Indoor Track & Field Teams Travel To Mike Lints Open

The Northwood University indoor track and field teams competed at the Mike Lints Alumni Open hosted by Grand Valley State University Friday nigh3 (January 16).

Junior Jeremy Wilchcombe (Freeport, Bahamas / St. Georges (NU-TX)) earned a first place finish for the second straight meet. His triple jump of 14.34 meters is just shy of his own school record (14.38 meters). Wally Clay (Grand Blanc, Mich. / Flint Southwestern) earned a 10th place finish in the 400 meter dash. Clay ran a 49.33 before also competing on the 4th place 4x400 meter relay team.  Tray Thompson (Fort Worth, Tx. / Duncanville / NU-Texas), Jordan Fields (Lauderhill, Fla. / Blanche Ely) and Marcus Johnson (Center, Tx. / Center (NU-Texas)) also ran on the relay team who finished with a time of 3:20.56. The men placed eighth overall out of 18 teams.

On the women's side, Claudia Coleman (Keller,Tx / Fossil Ridge (NU-Texas)), Kara Young (Zephyrhills, Fla.) and Elaina Meadows (Schoolcraft, Mich.) each earned a spot in the 60 meter dash finals. Coleman took 14th place with a time of 8.04, while Young and Meadows clocked 8.10 and 8.20 respectively. Sophomore Jennifer McKenna (Orchard Lake, Mich. / Walled Lake Northern) ran a 5:23.21 mile for a 15th place finish. Freshman Dana Turner (Maywood, Ill. / Walther Lutheran) jumped 4.91 meters in the women's long jump to earn herself a 15th place finish.

Northwood will compete in Doug Hansen Open at Saginaw Valley State on January 23.
