Volleyball Sweeps Ohio Dominican 3-0
The Northwood volleyball team posted its fourth straight win Saturday afternoon (September 22), sweeping Ohio Dominican 3-0. Set scores were 25-10, 25-19, 25-15.
Northwood is now 9-3 overall, 4-0 in the GLIAC. Ohio Dominican falls to 5-6 overall, 1-3 in the GLIAC.
It marks the first time since 2004 the Timberwolves have started GLIAC play 4-0.
The story of the match proved to be Northwood's offensive attack. The Timberwolves hit .500 in the first set (19-2-34), .423 in the second (15-3-26) and .630 in the third (18-1-27). . Overall, they finished at .517 for the match (52-7-87). That mark is the highest in the GLIAC this season by .100, betting the mark of .417 that Northern Michigan hit against Glenville State September 1.
Eight different Northwood players finished with at least a .500 attack percentage for the match. The top individual performance was by freshman Juliia Pakhomenko (Donetsk, Ukraine). She had 17 kills and one error on 24 attempts, good for a .667 attack percentage. Zina Liubymova (Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine) had nine kills and 11 digs while hitting .500 (9-1-16).
Northwood will travel to Hillsdale Tuesday night (September 25). First serve is set for 7 p.m.
