Volleyball Falls 3-0 At Lock Haven To Open 2014 Season

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Northwood University volleyball team opened their 2014 season with a 3-0 loss at Lock Haven Thursday night (Sept. 4). Set scores were 25-17, 26-24, 25-15.

The match was the first for Northwood's new head coach, James Goodridge. It was the opening match of the Lock Haven Invitational.

Northwood actually finished the match with a 30-29 edge in total kills, but committed 13 more errors while getting out blocked 9-4. NU hit .055 overall, totaling 30 kills and 24 errors on 109 attempts. Lock Haven finished at .182 overall (29-11-99).

Marissa Pomaville (Livonia, Mich./Churchill) shared team-high honors in kills with six while hitting .455 (6-1-11). Meghan Cleary (Howell, Mich./Farmington Hills Mercy) also added six kills. Birta Bjornsdottir (Kopavogur, Iceland) had a match-high 20 digs.

Northwood will take on Glenville State in their second match of the event Friday afternoon (September 5). First serve is set for 3 p.m.
