Sydney Hasenfratz Named GMAC North Division Offensive Player of the Week
MIDLAND, MICH. – Sydney Hasenfratz, a freshman on the Northwood University volleyball team, has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) North Division Offensive Player of the Week.
Hasenfratz had a big week for Northwood, averaging 5.42 kills, 1.5 blocks and 2.08 digs per set for the Timberwolves while hitting .491. She had 65 kills, five aces, 18 blocks and 25 digs in three matches. In Northwood's 3-2 loss to Hillsdale, Hasenfratz had 34 kills, 14 digs and six blocks. Her 34 kills set a number of milestones, including:
- Most kills for a freshman in Division II since at least 2013
- Second-most kills for any player in Division II this season
- Second-most kills in the history of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference
- Most kills for a Northwood player since October 7, 2005 (Gorana Maricic – 38)
- Most kills for a Northwood player in the 25-point set era (since 2008)
Then in Northwood's 3-0 win over Ursuline, she had 13 kills, five digs and five blocks while hitting .500 (13-3-20). Hasenfratz finished her week with 18 kills, eight blocks, six digs and two aces while hitting .586 (18-1-29).
Northwood returns to action with a home match against Findlay Tuesday night (October 25). First serve is set for 7 p.m.
