Volleyball Extends Win Streak To Six With 3-0 Win At Malone

RECAP: Northwood volleyball extends winning streak to six, picking up a 3-0 road sweep over Malone Friday (November 15).

INSIDE THE MATCH                                                                                        

  • Northwood and Malone were tied 7-7 in the opening set when the Timberwolves took control. NU scored eight of the next 11 points to open up a 15-10 lead. Northwood kept the run going, pushing the lead to 19-12. NU eventually took the opener 25-18 for a 1-0 lead.
  • The Timberwolves started the second set fast, jumping out to leads of 8-2 and 10-3. Northwood led by at least four the remainder of the set, when the Timberwolves took 25-17 for a 2-0 advantage. 
  • Malone was the better team early in the third set, leading 7-3. The Pioneers led by as many as six (13-7) before Northwood began a comeback. Trailing 15-10, NU scored seven of the next 10 points to get within one at 18-17. Malone was close to taking the set, holding a 23-21 lead, only to see the Timberwolves score the final four points of the match to wrap up the sweep 25-23.

The Timberwolves won the GLIAC tournament that season. This season's tournament game will take place Tuesday (November 19) at 7 p.m.
