Volleyball Falls 3-1 To Drury At Midwest Crossover

RECAP: Northwood Volleyball drops a 3-1 match to Drury to wrap up the Midwest Crossover Saturday (October 18).

INSIDE THE MATCH

  • While the opening set was close nearly the whole way, Northwood took the lead for good at 2-1. NU led 11-10 when the Timberwolves put up five of the next six points to go up 15-11. Drury got back within two at 16-14 but no closer the rest of the set as NU won 25-19.
  • Drury opened the second set with five of the first seven points. The Panthers led 7-6 when Drury put up six of the next eight points to make the score 13-8. Northwood fought back to 16-13 but that was as close as they would get the rest of the way. DU went on to win the set 25-20 to level the match at 1-1.
  • Set three was tied 6-6 when Drury slowly took control, as the Panthers built their advantage up to 21-14. Northwood eventually fought back to get within three at 24-21 before Drury closed out the set 25-21 for a 2-1 overall lead.
  • Drury led the fourth set 8-7 before a push by the Panthers. Drury had two different runs of three straight and four straight points to take control. In all, DU scored 14 of 18 points to go up 22-11. Drury closed out the match with a 25-13 fourth-set win.

  • At the conclusion of the event, Kissman was named to the All-Tournament team. She averaged 4.23 kills per set while hitting .326 over three matches (55-9-141).
  • Brines moved to fourth on the all-time Northwood assists list, now standing with 3,755 for her career. She moved past Shannon Keit, who finished with 3,727 assists from 1992-95.
