OVERVIEW – Lewis Crossover

LOCATION: Lewis Cross Country Course – Romeoville, Ill.

RECAP: The Northwood men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Lewis Crossover on Saturday (October 11), one of the largest and most competitive Division II meets of the season. The Timberwolves tested themselves against several nationally ranked programs from across the Midwest region, using the meet as a key tune-up ahead of the G-MAC Championships in two weeks.

INSIDE THE MEN'S RACE (8,000 METERS)

  • Northwood's men placed 30th overall in a field that included multiple top-25-ranked programs. The Timberwolves finished with a team score of 883 points, highlighted by consistent efforts across the lineup.
  • Junior Matt Grindrod once again led Northwood, taking 155th in 25:50.49. Fellow junior William Haw followed in 169th at 25:57.78, while Elliot Carey (26:17.12) and Nolan Nixon (26:18.98) packed tightly as the team's third and fourth scorers.
  • Junior Brandon Thompson rounded out the Timberwolves' top five with a personal record of 26:48.10, trimming nearly half a minute off his previous best.
  • As a group, Northwood's top five combined for a total time of 2:11:12, averaging 26:14 per runner with a 0:58 spread, marking one of the team's tightest packs of the season.

INSIDE THE WOMEN'S RACE (6,000 METERS)

  • Northwood's women placed 34th overall at the Lewis Crossover, finishing with 1,086 points in a deep field featuring more than 300 individual competitors.
  • Junior Kaylee Aultman led Northwood, placing 234th overall in 24:46.03. Senior Riley Hacker followed in 25:14.43, while freshman Julionna West clocked 25:41.05 in her first major regional test.
  • Freshmen Danica Aldrich (26:07.03) and Brianna Locke (27:18.97) rounded out the Timberwolves' scoring five.
  • Northwood's top five finished with a combined time of 2:09:07.5, averaging 25:49 with a 2:32 spread.

  • Northwood will compete at Saginaw Valley State's Red October meet on October 17 before hosting the G-MAC Cross Country Championships on October 25.
