RECAP: Northwood baseball picks up a doubleheader sweep at Illinois-Springfield Monday (February 24), earning wins by the scores of 4-2 and 12-5.
GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS (SEVEN INNINGS)
- Northwood got their offense going in the top of the second inning, starting with an RBI single by Drew Charters.
- The Timberwolves then got bases-loaded walks from Caden Duryea and Alex Jarboe to make the score 3-0.
- Illinois-Springfield responded with a solo home run in the bottom of the second.
- The score remained 3-1 until the bottom of the fifth when UIS connected on another solo home run.
- Northwood added an insurance run in the top of the seventh on a sacrifice fly from Logan Voth
- The two solo home runs for Springfield proved to be the only hits of the game for the Prairie Stars.
- Grant LaMarche tossed the first complete game of his career in the win, striking out seven.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS (NINE INNINGS)
- NU got on the board first in the top of the second inning thanks to a sac fly by Ben Narr.
- Northwood's offense put together a big inning in the third, which got going thanks to an RBI single by Myles Beale.
- Duryea followed with a sac fly to make the score 3-0.
- Jarboe, Narr and Mason Brunworth each had RBI singles to conclude the five-run third to put NU on top 6-0.
- Northwood scored two more in the top of the fourth on an RBI double from Duryea and an RBI single by Ben DeVries.
- Duryea added another RBI double in the top of the fifth to extend the advantage to 9-0
- After a solo home run put UIS on the board in the bottom of the fifth, DeVries connected on his third home run in the last two days to make the score 10-1.
- The Prairie Stars put up three runs in the sixth to get within six.
- Northwood added two more in the top of the right thanks to an RBI bases loaded walk from Charters and an RBI fielder's choice from Getz.
- UIS plated one in the bottom of the ninth to make the final 12-5.
