Baseball Sweeps Doubleheader At Malone

RECAP: Northwood baseball sweeps a doubleheader at Malone to open a four-game series Friday (March 21), with the Timberwolves taking game one 8-3 and game two 8-1.
GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS (NINE INNINGS)
- Malone started the scoring in the first inning, going up 1-0 after one.
- The score remained 1-0 until the fourth inning when the Pioneers connected on a solo home run to make the score 2-0.
- Northwood got on the board in the top of the fifth on a sacrifice fly from Josh Getz to put the Timberwolves within one at 2-1.
- NU went on top for good in the top of the sixth inning on a two-run double by Brendan Hammer.
- Ben DeVries brought home Hammer on an RBI single, making the score 4-2.
- Northwood capped the four-run sixth with an RBI for Myles Beale on a fielder's choice.
- NU's offense kept rolling in the seventh, starting with a run-scoring single for Ben Narr to put the Timberwolves on top 6-2.
- Getz added his second RBI of the game on a groundout, which was followed by a bases loaded walk by Alex Jarboe that gave Northwood an 8-2 lead.
- The Pioneers plated a single run in the bottom of the seventh, which proved to be the final run of the game.

- Northwood started game two strong, as Beale came home on a throwing error
- Jarboe made the score 2-0 in the opening inning on an RBI single to bring home Drew Charters.
- Caden Duryea pushed the Northwood advantage to 4-0 in the top of the second on a two-run double.
- Malone got on the board with a run in the bottom of the third to get within three runs.
- Narr returned Northwood's four-run lead in the top of the fifth with an RBI single to make the score 5-1.
- The Timberwolves added three insurance runs in the top of the seventh. Narr's sac fly made the score 6-1.
- NU then pulled off a double steal, with Landon Kempainen stealing home while Hammer took second.
- Matthew Meyer capped the scoring for the Timberwolves with an RBI single.
- An efficient Connor Foley was the story of the game for Northwood on the mound. He tossed a complete game for the Timberwolves, allowing one run on four hits while striking out six. Foley only needed 63 pitches (50 strikes) to go the full seven innings.
