RECAP: Northwood baseball extends its winning streak to 10 games while remaining unbeaten in the G-MAC with a sweep over Kentucky Wesleyan Thursday (March 27), winning by the scores of 5-3 and 12-4.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS (NINE INNINGS)

  • Kentucky Wesleyan got things started quickly, plating a pair of runs on three hits in the top of the first.
  • Northwood responded with a bloop triple to open the game from Myles Beale, who later scored on an RBI single from Caden Duryea.
  • Ben Narr then tied the game with an RBI single to make the score 2-2 after one.
  • KWC went back on top in the top of the fourth with a single run.
  • The key inning of the game was the seventh, when Northwood came through with a pair of runs. Duryea tied the score with a sacrifice fly that brought home Ben DeVries.
  • Beale then came home with what proved to be the game-winning run on a bunt single from Drew Charters that also featured a throwing error to put NU on top 4-3.
  • Freshman Aidan Robinson added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth on a pinch-hit home run, which made the final 5-3.

  • Northwood responded right away in the bottom of the inning, tying the score on another bunt single by Charters with a throwing error that brought home Beale.
  • Brendan Hammer followed with a two-run double to give NU a 3-1 advantage after one.
  • Duryea made it 4-1 in the second on a sac fly.
  • Northwood broke the game open in the third inning, starting with a Narr RBI single.
  • DeVries followed with an bases loaded walk, which was followed by a two-run single from Logan Voth that put the Timberwolves on top 8-1.
  • Narr doubled home Charters in the fourth to make the score 9-1.
  • DeVries then plated a pair to put the lead at 10 at 11-1.
  • Josh Getz added another Northwood run with an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth.
  • KWC plated three unearned runs in the top of the seventh to make the final 12-4.
