RECAP: Northwood baseball earns a key doubleheader sweep over Findlay Friday afternoon (May 2), winning game one 8-2 and game two 7-2.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS (NINE INNINGS)

  • Findlay got on the board first in the second inning with a run for a 1-0 advantage.
  • Northwood responded with a three-run frame in the bottom of the second. Ben DeVries had an RBI double, which was followed by a Caden Duryea two-run double.
  • Northwood extended the lead in the third on an RBI groundout by Logan Voth that made the score 4-1.
  • Findlay got one back in the fifth to cut the NU lead to two.
  • The Timberwolves added to their lead in the seventh on RBI singles from Duryea and Jarboe to make the score 6-2.
  • NU rounded out the scoring in the eight with a pair of runs. Josh Get had an sacrifice fly while Myles Beale had an RBI double to make the final 8-2.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS (SEVEN INNINGS)

  • Just like in game one, Findlay opened the scoring with a single run in the top of the second inning.
  • As they also did in game one, Northwood responded in the bottom of the second to take the lead. Matthew Meyer got the Timberwolves on the board with a sac fly to tie the score 1-0.
  • Brendan Hammer gave NU the lead with a two-out RBI single to give the advantage 2-1.
  • Duryea added to the Northwood lead in the bottom of the third on an RBI double.
  • A single and a Findlay error allowed Duryea to score to make the score 4-1.
  • Findlay had chances to score over the final four innings, but only managed one run in the top of the fifth that closed the gap to 4-2.
  • A wild pitch brought home Narr to put NU on top 6-2.
  • Beale made the final 7-2 with a sac bunt that scored Hammer.

  • This is the seventh time in the last eight seasons Northwood has won 30 games in a full season. The only season in that stretch NU did not win 30 games they finished with 29 (2021).
