RECAP: Northwood baseball claims the G-MAC North Division championship and the top seed at the G-MAC Tournament by splitting a pair of games against Findlay Saturday (May 3), with UF taking game one and NU winning game two 10-3.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS (SEVEN INNINGS)

  • Findlay was the better team early in the game, scoring two in the third and one in the fourth to go up 4-0.
  • Northwood responded in the bottom of the fourth, starting with an RBI single from Ben DeVries.
  • Josh Getz then made it 4-2 with an RBI single.
  • A wild pitch cut the Oiler lead to 4-3, which was followed by a Drew Charters RBI single that tied the score 4-4.
  • The score remained tied 4-4 into the seventh inning when Findlay plated three runs.
  • Northwood was unable to score in the final inning, giving the Oilers the win.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS (NINE INNINGS)

  • For the first time in the four-game series, it was Northwood who got on the board first. Charters brought home a run in the bottom of the first with an RBI single.
  • Ben Narr then drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 2-0 after one inning.
  • Northwood then made it 3-0 in the second on a Landon Kempainen RBI single.
  • Brendan Hammer extended the lead in the third with a run-scoring single to put NU on top 4-0.
  • Findlay got one back in the top of the fourth to get within three.
  • Northwood responded with an Alex Jarboe sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth to get the lead back to four at 5-1.
  • The Oilers scored a pair in the fifth to get within two runs.
  • NU kept the offense going in the sixth on a Charters RBI single.
  • Northwood, which scored in every inning in the game except the fifth, put up three more runs in the seventh. Getz made it 7-3 on an RBI single.
  • Peyton Guilbeaux added to the lead with an RBI single, which was followed by a successful double steal with Guilbeaux and Myles Beale that put the score at 9-3.
  • Northwood rounded out the scoring in the bottom of the eighth on a Matthew Meyer RBI single that made the final 10-3.

  • This is the fourth regular season championship of any kind in program history, all of which have occurred in the last nine season (2017, 2018, 2023, 2025).
  • Brad Baldwin is the third coach to win a title at Northwood, joining Jordan Bischel (2017, 2018) and Jake Sabol (2023).
