RECAP: Led by a career-day by Jamison Eklund, Northwood Men's Basketball opens its season with a convincing 97-71 win over Ferris State Friday night (November 15).  

GAME STORY

  • Northwood led 6-4 early on when Ferris State posted a 10-2 run to earn a 14-8 advantage at the 13:19 mark.
  • That proved to be FSU's largest lead of the game, however, as Northwood responded with a 14-0 run to put the Timberwolves on top 22-14.
  • NU's lead stayed above six the rest of the half – the Timberwolves biggest advantage in the opening 20 minutes was 43-29.
  • Northwood went on to lead 43-34 at the break.
  • The Timberwolves came out fast to start the second half, scoring the first nine points in 2:52 to make the score 52-34.
  • Northwood's lead got up to 19 before Ferris State began to fight back. A 12-3 run buy the Bulldogs cut the lead down to 64-57 with 8:40 remaining.
  • With the Northwood lead standing at 68-59, the Timberwolves offense exploded over a 2:58 stretch. In that time, Northwood out-scored Ferris State 19-4 thanks to the Timberwolves going 7-7 from the floor, 4-4 from 3-point range and 1-1 from the foul line. In less than three minutes, the NU lead went from nine to 25 at 87-62.
  • FSU got no closer than 19 the rest of the way. Northwood's 26-point lead at the end of the game matched their biggest of the day.
  • The story of the game was the performance of junior forward Jamison Eklund, who scored 33 ponits while going 14-24 from the floor. His previous best at Northwood was 20 points against Ohio Dominican December 7, 2024.

  • Northwood snapped a three-game losing streak to the Bulldogs with the victory. NU's last win over FSU came in Big Rapids February 8, 2020 (87-81). The Timberwolves' last home win over Ferris State was February 2, 2019 (90-84).
