Men's Golf Places Second At GLIAC Spring Invitational
NEW ALBANY, OHIO – The Northwood University men's golf team had a strong showing at the GLIAC Spring Invitational Saturday and Sunday (April 19-20), placing second out of 13 teams.
The two-day, 36-hole event was hosted by Ohio Dominican at the Winding Hollow Golf Club. The course played as a 6,870 yard, par 72.
Northwood carded team scores of 307 and 295 to finish at 602 overall. Malone was the overall winner at 595 (303-292) with Ferris State placing third at 607 (310-297).
Gilles Medale (Valence D'Agen, France) led the way for Northwood, shooting rounds of 76 and 70 to finish with a two-over par total of 146, which was good for second place overall. Matt Garland (Battle Creek, Mich./Lakeview) tied for ninth overall at 152 (77-75), while Bruce Eccleton (Saginaw, Mich./Mott CC) tied for 11th at 153 (77-76). A total of 74 players took part in the event.
At the conclusion of the tournament, the GLIAC announced the All-Conference teams. Northwood was represented on the Second Team All-GLIAC by Eccleton. He has led Northwood in scoring average this season at 76.6 over 19 rounds played.
