Men's Lacrosse's Comeback Against Lake Erie Comes Up Short

RECAP: Northwood men's lacrosse's comeback fell short in their battle with Lake Erie Tuesday (March 25) night. The Storm finished the match on a 9-0 run to take down the Timberwolves 17-7 in Painesville, Ohio.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Lake Erie went on the early offense run, opening the matchup with a 3-0 lead at the 9:36 mark of the first quarter.
- Northwood added their first behind Ryder Mulvey's first score of the match. Drew Lockwood was credited with the assist, 3-1 LEC.
- The Storm took control late in the first quarter and early in the second. They finished on a 2-0 run at the end of the first before opening their largest lead at 8-2 at the 8:40 of the second.
- A Lake Erie timeout of all things at 7:52 of the second looked to get Northwood back in the game.
- The Timberwolves rattled off a 4-0 scoring run in the final 5:25 of the first half. Lockwood, MacKennan Tognetti, Andrew Rogers, and Dylan Ayotte all got in on the scoring to bring Northwood within two at the half, 8-6 LEC.
- Northwood kept the momentum to start the second half. Just before the 13:00 mark, Lockwood drove right before ripping it inside the left post and bringing the Timberwolves within one, 8-7 LEC.
- The Storm broke their over 11-minute scoring drought at the 12:24 mark of the third, 9-7 LEC.
- Lake Erie extended their lead back out to four, adding two more goals while limiting the Northwood offense to just one in the third quarter. At the end of three, Lake Erie held the 11-7 advantage, outshooting the Timberwolves 6-1 in shots on goal in the third.
- Northwood's offense continued to sputter into the fourth. Lake Erie had seven shots before the Timberwolves even managed a shot. LEC added their 12th at the 7:35 mark and 13th at 6:00.
- The Timberwolves' comeback fell short as Lake Erie scored four more, taking the contest 17-7.
