GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • Northwood wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as Drew Lockwood scored just 51 seconds into the contest to give the Timberwolves an early lead.
  • After Rockhurst tied the game at 1-1, Northwood responded with a three-goal run to seize control of the opening quarter. Rogers converted on a man-up opportunity off a Lockwood assist before Ryder Mulvey scored back-to-back goals, including one off a feed from Rogers, to push the Timberwolves ahead 4-1.
  • Rockhurst closed the gap late in the period, but Gabe Schmoll capped the quarter with a goal off an assist from Dylan Ayotte with 49 seconds remaining to give Northwood a 5-3 advantage after one.
  • The Hawks opened the second quarter with two quick scores to even it at 5-5, but the Timberwolves again responded. Ayotte scored unassisted to restore the lead before Mulvey finished a pass from MacKennan Tognetti midway through the period.
  • Rockhurst tied the contest once more at 7-7 late in the half, but Ayotte struck again with 1:38 remaining in the quarter, sending Northwood into halftime with an 8-7 lead.
  • Northwood extended its advantage early in the third quarter when Tognetti finished a pass from Rogers at the 12:54 mark. The Timberwolves' defense held Rockhurst scoreless for the entire quarter, maintaining the 9-7 lead heading into the final period.
  • Rockhurst mounted a comeback in the fourth quarter, scoring twice to tie the game at 9-9 with just under four minutes remaining.
  • Mulvey gave Northwood the lead again with 1:20 left in regulation, finishing a feed from Rogers to make it 10-9. However, Rockhurst answered with a late goal in the final minute to force overtime.
