Softball Earns Game Two Win To Split Series With Hillsdale

RECORDS: Northwood (17-13, 7-5 G-MAC), Hillsdale (19-14, 5-3 G-MAC)

RECAP: Northwood softball took a series split with Hillsdale on Sunday (April 6). The Chargers took game one behind a shutout 4-0 before Northwood earned the 3-1 win in game two.
GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
- Hillsdale opened game one's scoring with a two-run homer to right-center in the bottom of the first, 2-0 HC.
- The only other scoring in the game came in the second inning for the Chargers. Two singles opened the frame before a single to left and a sac fly to center gave Hillsdale the 4-0 advantage.
- Northwood's offense proved overmatched by Hillsdale's pitching, going down in order over the next three innings. Hillsdale's 11 strikeouts sent them to a 4-0 victory in game one.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
- In game two, Northwood would be the first to score. Back-to-back walks to Ziel and Delanie Gale and a single from Abby Robinson opened the third. Gage Lambert's single to right put NU out in front 2-0.
- Gale's RBI single to center added one more for NU in the fourth. Ashlyn Lundquist came around to score from second on the play, 3-0 NU.
- Brynn Polega proved to be on her game through four allowing one hit to the Chargers offense. The Chargers would finally crack the scoreboard in the fifth via a solo home run to left. 3-1 NU.
- Polega continued to deal, shutting the Hillsdale offense down en route to NU's 3-1 win. Polega extended her career-high in wins with her 10th this season.
