Maeve St. John's Career Day Leads Women's Basketball To 88-70 Win Over Lewis

RECAP: Led by a career day for senior point guard Maeve St. John, the Northwood Women's Basketball team picks up an 88-70 win over Lewis Sunday (November 23).
GAME STORY
- The first quarter was tightly contested, with the first three-point lead of the quarter for either side coming with NU on top 21-18 with 58 seconds remaining.
- The Timberwolves finished the opening quarter leading 23-19.
- Northwood started the second quarter on a run, putting up the first nine points to go up 32-19 with under six minutes remaining in the half.
- The lead stayed in double figures but got no bigger than 14 the rest of the second quarter, which ended with Northwood leading 48-37.
- NU's advantage stayed consistent throughout the third quarter, as the lead stayed between 11 and 17. The Timberwolves were on top 68-57 heading to the fourth.
- Lewis was the better team at the start of the fourth, getting back to within single digits for the first time since the opening quarter. The Flyers were within six at 72-66 with 4:10 remaining in the game.
- The Timberwolves took control of the game down the stretch at the foul line. Over the final 4:04 of the game, the Timberwolves were 10-10 from the line. In that time, the Timberwolves out-scored Lewis 16-4.
- Northwood's 18-point lead at the end of the game was their largest of the contest.

- St. John's 32 points are tied for the eighth-most for an individual in program history. The last time an NU player scored more than that was Lindsey Orwat, who scored 36 November 12, 2017.
- St. John is the eighth player in school history to make at least 10 free throws without a miss. Her 16 makes are the most for anyone not to miss in a game. The last Northwood player to make at least 10 free throws in a game without a miss was Pam Wilson November 28, 2009.
- St. John's 16 made free throws without a miss are the most for any Division II women's basketball player in the 2025-26 season.
- St. John finished one made free throw away from tying Lauren Robak's school-record of 17, which she set December 4, 2014.
- St. John's previous best scoring game was 27 against Tiffin from her freshman season December 15, 2022.
