RECAP: Northwood women's soccer took on (1) Ashland in the G-MAC Tournament Semifinals Thursday evening (November 13). Lindsay Jacob made nine saves as the Timberwolves absorbed heavy pressure, holding for the draw 0-0 after two overtimes. The match was ultimately decided in a marathon 14-round shootout, with Ashland narrowly edging Northwood 13–12.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Ashland controlled much of the first half, generating nine shots and five corners while putting steady pressure on Northwood's back line. Both teams continued to play the long ball, looking to create chances through long passes.
- Jacob kept the Timberwolves level with two key saves midway through the half, and despite Ashland's consistent attacking waves, most of their attempts missed the frame, going into halftime tied 0–0.
- Ashland carried the possession throughout the second half, piling up shots and corners while Northwood continued to defend. The Eagles outshot the Timberwolves 21–1 in regulation and earned nine corners, forcing Northwood's defense to bend, but they never broke.
- Northwood and Ashland played two scoreless overtime periods. Ashland had early chances, but Jacob made two more saves in the periods, bringing her total for the night to nine. Northwood surged in the second OT, firing four shots from Mari Jackson, who was just inches from the game-winner off the right side; Lila Brundage, who put one off the crossbar; and Carly Boyd's chance from deep, yet neither team scored, sending the match to penalties.
- After 110 scoreless minutes, Northwood and Ashland went to a marathon shootout that stretched deep into sudden-death. Both sides traded makes and misses, matching each other round after round.
- Northwood stayed alive thanks to key conversions from Reagan Brengman, Ella Boyd, Carly Boyd, Mia Thomson, Annaliese Sabo, Ashtyn Lange, Piper Barnhart, Kendall Buchman, Jenna D'Alimonte, and Savannah Garcia, each stepping up in must-score moments.
- The battle finally ended in the 14th round, where Ashland slipped ahead 13–12 to take the tiebreaker.
