Volleyball Sweeps Tiffin 3-0

The Northwood University volleyball team earned a 3-0 win over Tiffin Friday night (September 21). Set scores were 25-15, 25-20, 25-21.

Northwood is now 8-3 overall, 3-0 in the GLIAC. Tiffin falls to 4-5 overall, 0-3 in the GLIAC.

The Timberwolves came out strong in the opening set, opening up a 7-3 lead to start and never looking back. NU held the Dragons to a .185 (8-3-27) clip in the set.

The final two sets were similar – both were close throughout until a late run by Northwood gave them the win. The second set was tied at 19 before NU scored six of the final seven points, while the final set was tied 20-20 when the Timberwolves scored five of the final six points.

For the match, Northwood hit .320 (44-13-97) while holding Tiffin to a .185 clip (32-15-92). NU also finished with a 42-36 edge in digs.

Zina Liubymova (Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine) led the way for the Timberwolves, finishing with match-highs in both kills (14) and digs (12). She hit .429 for the match (14-2-28).

Northwood will host Ohio Dominican Saturday (September 22). Match time is set for 4 p.m.
