Volleyball Drops Tough 3-2 Match To Ohio Dominican In Opening Round Of G-MAC Tournament

INSIDE THE MATCH                                                                                        

  • Northwood took the lead for good at 8-7 in the opening set. NU used a 12-5 run to open up a 19-12 lead. ODU got no closer than five the rest of the way, as the Timberwolves earned the opening set 25-17.
  • The Timberwolves kept the momentum going early in the second, scoring eight of the first 11 points. Ohio Dominican fought back to tie the score at 13-13. With ODU leading 19-18, the Timberwolves scored three straight to take a 21-19 lead. The Panthers eventually had a set point at 24-23 when Northwood put up the final three points to go up 2-0 with a 26-24 win.
  • NU led the third set 9-7 when Ohio Dominican went on the key run to take control. ODU scored seven straight to take a 14-9 lead. The Timberwolves responded with five straight points to tie the score at 14-14. The set was tied 23-23 when the Panther scored the final two points and stay alive at 25-23.
  • Northwood posted four straight points to open the fourth set. The Timberwolves maintained control most of the way, holding a 16-8 lead. That is when the Panthers got hot, going on a 14-4 run to take a 22-20 lead. NU tied the score at 23-23, only to see Ohio Dominican score the final two points and level the match 25-23.
  • Ohio Dominican took the lead for good in the final set at 9-8. Leading 10-9, ODU scored four straight to get their first match point at 14-10. The Panthers eventually closed out the match at 15-12, giving Ohio Dominican the comeback win.
