RECAP: Women's Soccer bounced back from an early deficit at Kentucky Wesleyan Saturday afternoon (October 25). The Panthers struck early, but Northwood responded with four second-half goals to claim a 4-1 victory.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Kentucky Wesleyan struck first in the 12', as a shanked Northwood clearance left the Panthers with an open shot just outside the right corner of the 18-yard box, giving them an early 1-0 lead.
- Northwood struggled to find rhythm in the first half but kept the deficit to a single goal while generating a few late chances and holding a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.
- The Timberwolves responded in the second half, with Claire Gonyea leveling the match in the 61' off a long clearance from Reagan Brengman down the right side, 1-1.
- Carly Boyd put Northwood ahead in the 68' on an assist from Gonyea. A precise sequence following an Annaliese Sabo throw-in saw the ball headed twice—from Ella Boyd to Gonyea—before Carly Boyd finished into the lower left corner, 2-1.
- Sabo followed up with her first career goal in the 74', making it 3-1. Kendall Buchman's pass at the top of the box created space for Sabo to dribble and finish over the outstretched keeper with her left foot.
- Buchman added an insurance goal in the 89', capping the scoring at 4-1. She lofted Northwood's seventh corner of the match, which was batted around before going over the keeper into the net.
- Northwood dominated offensively, outshooting the Panthers 12-4 (9-1 in the second half) and controlling corners 7-1 (4-0 in the second half) in the 4-1 victory.
